Kids A-Z: A Fun Way to Practice Reading at Home!
Kids A-Z is an online reading library that allows your children to access hundreds of animated leveled books. Your children will be able to listen to a variety of books including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, song books, nursery rhymes, and a few books in Spanish. Most of the books are leveled from level aa-Z. Level aa is most appropriate for students in beginning kindergarten while level Z is more advanced and most appropriate for students in grades 5 or 6. Each student was assigned a level based on their reading level.
There are three simple steps that students using Kids A-Z are required to follow. First, they listen to the story, and then they read the story themselves, and finally take a comprehension quiz. For each step, they receive a green check when completed. If students answer a question incorrectly, they receive a purple check and they must retake the quiz. We encourage students to reread the story before retaking the quiz.
As teachers, we have access to monitor and view students' progress and their time spent on reading. Because our ELL time is very limited, we encourage our students to use Kids A-Z at home. Students who are part of this program have been trained on how to use Kids A-Z in the beginning of the school year.

Kids A-Z has added a couple new exciting components to its website! One is Science A-Z where students can explore a variety of books on science including vocabulary and quizzes. The other is Writing A-Z which allows students to get hands on writing practice. Students will have the opportunity to create their own books by writing and designing their own stories and later publishing them. Please encourage our students to utilize these wonderful components that can further engage and expand knowledge on a span of subjects.
